Sarina's World

Sarina has become quite attached to television lately. Before she never seemed interested but lately she is obsessed. She begs for teebee first thing in the morning. She has her favorite shows--Dorda (Dora), Iigo (Diego) and Jack (Jack's big music show). She is so obsessed that Ben uses it as a way to torture her. He now declares that he doesn't like to watch TV and turns it off. Oh how she screams. She gets no sympathy from her father and I though. Poor girl.

She is such a girl. Most days we can only wear PINK! Except for jammies which must be Green. She loves to wear her jammies and must put them on at nap time too. She is also fond of purple socks. She fights me on what she will wear. We almost never agree and so I leave her to rifle through her drawers to choose something after she has rejected my selection for the day. She at least matches as she always chooses PINK! The only problem is that she often will dig through the dirty clothes to find her favorite purple socks or pink top. She has a favorite pink top that I just despise but she loves it stripey sparkles and all.

We continue to work on potty training. She is most interested in going potty at bed time still. At least now she is content to only go once and then to bed. Alas the rest of the day she does not care although she loves to wear her pink unders all day over her diapers. She still declares that big girls do not potty in the toilet. She does do achee everyday and then loves to flush and yell "swim achee, swim" as it goes down.

I've been wanting to grow her bangs out and have been trying to get her to wear pretties in her hair but so far she is not going for it despite the fact that her hair hangs in her eyes. Mark is for cutting it soon. I may have to give in. I really thought she would really get used to the pretties by now but she has not.

Most of you would never leave prettys in your hair. one of the reasons for short hair.

They will be themselves. Not much you can do about that. Be thankful (or beware) that Sarina isn't changing her outfits several times a day like one small friend of mine does. That would be a lot of (pink) laundry indeed....

Have you tried Pink Pretties for her hair??

You could try what my grandmother did to me. Hair ribbions that I picked out from the Material counter and were measured around my head. Then she taught me who to tie my own bow on top of my head. I could tie my hair bow and the bow on the back of my dress before starting school (4.5 yo) but could not time my shoe until I was in seventh grade (always had buckel shoes) before then. Try letting her pick the pretties.

Hi. I read that you live in the Madison area. I live in Chicago and am looking for people in the Midwest who have connections with the Nepali community. I haven't found any in Chicago, but would love to talk on the phone or email. I am currently pursuing adoption from Nepal.

Thanks - Candice
