Stop That Incessant Whining

My darling girl has taken to whining. OMG! How I hate whining. Every time we get in the car she declares herself hungry and begs for something to eat. Crying "Hungry Mommy, Hungry" over and over again. Now mind you she's not hungry enough to eat the stash of breakfast bars I have in the car. No, she wants a sucker. The other day she cried all the way to my book club that she was hungry then when we got there and I offered her the healthy snack choice of fruit she declared that she was not hungry. Arghhhh... I am reminded of my mother who used to yell at us "Stop that incessant whining!" I think I actually said that to the poor child. But she drives me mad. When she wants something she asks for it over and over again until I can get it for her. I'm trying not to give in to all her demands. I tell her patiently that she is waiting. Does that help. NO!

Sarina has also discovered that she would like to potty train but only at bedtime or at 4am. Every night when I put her to bed as her head touches the pillow she asks to go Potty. Never mind that i just asked if she had to go. So off to the potty we go where she sits and sits and sits. Sometimes we have production sometimes not. Then back to bed where she prov=claims once again she has to go potty. Oh the plaintive cries of potty. I tried putting her on the potty and leaving her on her own as she thinks it a great time to be social but she seems to not care. I mean really it is so entertaining to sit on the potty. You can sing and play with the toilet paper (until mom takes it away) and you can flush the toilet and look into the toilet to see if there is achee there. Oh, so much fun. So now I have instituted a one potty trip rule. That has not gone over big and she has had to cry herself to sleep while yelling "potty, potty" at the top of her lungs. Of course she then keeps up her big brother who then feels the need to yell back at her. Lovely. The other night neither fell asleep until 10pm. She seems more persistent then Ben ever was. She is a stubborn girl. Lets hope tonight she gets with the new protocol.

UPDATE:

Sarina went to bed without complaint last night. She even declined my offer to take her to the potty. She is back to singing herself to sleep. Should I celebrate? Nay, it's only one night but a hopeful sign. Ok, she is not going potty during the day still so not exactly a war won yet.

She is a girl and that is that. Does she know how to start a stream? one of you didn't and would get quite upset that the potty would not just come when you sat down.

none of you stayed dry during the day, until you stayed dry all night.
I still prefer yelling to whinning, just crazy that way. I also like drums over violins.

I am a whiner myself, so I can't say much!
