It's been a rough couple of days with Ben but he is finally feeling better. His cough and fever worsened Sunday night and his breathing got really labored so we took him to the Dr. on Monday. They wanted him admitted so off to the emergency room for a long day of poking and prodding. He had multiple breathing treatments and an xray that showed pneumonia with fluid build up so they admitted him for the night. Poor boy had a long day. He didn't get a room until 7pm after going to the dr. at 10 am. He started out a pretty compliant patient but by that time he was quite cranky. Mark spent the night with him while I went home to Sarina.
Our hospital is a teaching hospital so the drs. travel in packs and all want to repeat the same exam over and over again. Ben was quite fed up with people listening to his heart, lungs and tummy and looking in his ear as well as poking things in his mouth. When I came back the next day there was a huddle of dr.s and students outside his door. Apparently Ben had banished them! He was really cranky by this time. But they had removed all their monitors and he was breathing on his own without extra oxygen. They took another xray that showed the pneumonia and fluid were responding to the antibiotics. So he got one more dose of antibiotics and they sent him home in the early evening. He slept well through the night and woke this morning with no fever. The first time in days. So he is on the couch again and watching cartoons. He is coughing so much he is afraid he will choke so he won't eat solid food but that is ok as long as he has his fluids. WE see the dr. again this afternoon but he is on the mend.
Sarina is of course in heaven. The tv is on nonstop again. While he was gone she laid on the couch with his pillows and blanket and proclaimed herself sick while reading her books. That girl is a lay about. I am so thankful for my neighbors help during this time. Amber and Celia cared for Sarina while I had to be gone. They made a tough situation much easier as I knew Sarina would be well cared for. Many blessing to them!

You and Mark take care of yourselves.

Poor baby!!! I'm sooo sorry he's sick and glad he's on the mend.
BIG HUG
How scary! And I don't blame you having the TV on constantly. It will be hard to transition back to normal: I know this from the snow weeks we had.... Good luck with that, and glad the boy is on the mend.
