A Lesson In Nepali Table Manners

Last night during dinner we were as usual trying to get Ben to 1) sit in his seat 2) use his fork and 3) take normal size bites of food where he could actually chew without food spewing from his mouth as he tried to work his overstuffed jaws. Finally in a moment of exasperation he said to us "Sarina, me and Radha are Nepali. We were born in Nepal so we have bigger mouths then you because you live in Wisconsin. In Nepal we don't chew our food because we have such big throats." So it seems that in Nepal table manners are completely different. You can take as large of bites as you like and not chew and no one cares. We pointed out to him that we were in Wisconsin now when he is in Nepal he can do away with our rules but here we take smaller bites and chew. Thank you very much.

If not I guess your stuck with when your in usa follow their rules and when you are in nepal follow theirs for table manners only at this time

Well, that certainly explains a lot! Do Nepalis also use a second hand to assist with the big bites? I've seen that a lot...

Ha! the BIG throat excuse!

Funny, I didn't notice a big throat on your two children.

How does that saying go????
Big throat, small feet?
Big throat, warm heart?
Big throat, wild and crazy behavior? Yes, I think that is it.

I shudder when I think of some of the Nepali traditions you showed pictures of when you were there. Painting his body red and partaking of organic hallucinagens perhaps? yipes!
