My weight loss came to a grinding halt last week. No loss for two weeks now. I have been majorly depressed over it. I've been very good and yet I'm up half a pound. So in order to jump start more loss I decided to take a binge day. Had the Nepali picnic Saturday. A great day to binge on Aloo acher and curry goat. Plus a muffin for breakfast and ice cream on the way home from the picnic. That should get my weight loss going again. That is my theory anyway. And after a week of strange fluctuations in my weight of plus or minus 2 pounds from one day to the next I'm solidly on the down side now. We'll see how this plays out over the week. I've also bumped up the exercise a bit. Two walks into town yesterday and on Sunday I took Ben for a long bike ride where he did not pedal at all. I can really feel that 60 pounds of bike and boy dragging behind me on the hills. Top of the thighs were burning. All worth it as in the competition to lose weight Clyde, my brother-in-law's dog, is winning now. I was in the lead prior to this. I was greatly embarrassed to be beaten by a dog but then I thought, hey, the dog can't open the fridge whenever he wants. Plus he has to exercise whether he wants to or not. He has a personal trainer that is with him 24/7. An ex-military one at that. Totally unfair. Not that I want a 24/7 trainer. Sounds like a nightmare to me.
On Sunday I took Ben to my neighbor's church. He wanted to go. Mostly I think as they have a play area and after church treats like cake. As we sat listening to the sermon on forgiving your enemy Ben had many questions. First he needed to know what an enemy was. Someone that does things to you that hurt I informed him. He then promptly declared Josiah his enemy and after listening to the sermon about forgiving people no matter what they do he declared the idea crazy. He was not going for it.
He has also wanted to know if there is only one God how does he go into every one's heart as there are so many people. A tough one. He then wondered if God can go into a dinosaur's heart, say when two meat eaters are fighting can God enter their heart and stop the fighting. How about the meteor that hit the earth and killed the dinosaurs. Was God in the meteor since God is in all things. After the sermon we asked the Minister and he said that the dinosaurs were killed in the flood which leaves us to wonder why they weren't on the ark too? Oh, the questions this boy has about God. It was a very interesting sermon. Maybe next week the Minister will talk more about dinosaur's and forgiveness.

Just to set the record straight, Clyde isn't all that thrilled about being in the lead in the contest. In his world, being big and overweight is good!!
I am not sure dogs should count. They realy do not control theirselves usless they belong to your father. Loveyou.
Still can figure out how god left the perfect boy (of may questions) and girl half way around the world for you.
Love ya MOM
Clyde says it's OK to swear at him now instead of Carl, if you'd like. :)
You've reached a platue (spelling?) you need to change it up now. Different, maybe a bit more cardio. You need at LEAST 3 hours of cardio a week (harder than you think) to LOOSE weight. Less once you reach your goal. You should do some kind of muscle building (push-ups/planks/squats with or without weights)3 sets of 12 repatitions to start ( YOU CAN DO THAT. CALL ME WE CAN DO IT ON SPEAKER PHONE only takes 20 minutes and Ben can do them with you he would LOVE IT! 2 times a week. NO ETING AFTER 6:00pm!!! and you will loose over night. You can loose a pound a day if you stick with it!
There's no way that damn dog is doing 3 hours of cardio...squats yes pushups NO WAY!
Love ya
"There's no way that damn dog is doing three hours of cardio ..."
Actually, Clyde chases rabbits in the meadows nearly every morning for about an hour ... then chipmonks in the park each afternoon for about 45 minutes ... then another 3/4 hour or so of just generally sniffing after critters each evening on the local school grounds. (So he gets just over 2 1/2 hours of good brisk running and walking each day.)
I haven't really cut back on his food, he's just loosing his 'winter weight' by getting more outdoor exercise. (He really porked up this past winter!)
I've been keeping a food log for years for myself ... and started one for Clyde a couple months back. Food logs work great and I strongly endorse their usage! They're a bit of a hassle to start, but once you get in the habit of using them, they are wonderful tools for developing and maintaining a sensible dietary lifestyle; it helps keeps me from overeating (which IS THE big culprit) and lets me hit my daily goals for cholesterol, fat, and fiber intake.
And of course, Clyde and I get lots of exercise. I'm no nutrition expert, but I suscribe to the idea that burning excess calories is a more healthy, effective way to lose weight than reducing calorie intake. And 45 minutes/day of good cardio work (with it's commensurate endorphin release) is a great stress reliever!!
