Saying Goodbye

Yesterday one of my dear neighbors, Jytte, died. I am very sad at her passing. She was a great lady and truly a remarkable character. She was diagnosed with cancer two years ago and has been putting on a very brave fight. Despite undergoing chemo treatments she continued to be upbeat and cheerful. Every time I saw her she was dressed up with her hair done and her make up on. I will miss her terribly. She was a great presence on our little block. She was one of the original owners and just knew everybody in town and all the happenings. If you wanted the real scoop you could always go to Jytte. When we first moved here I befriended her and we took some fun trips together. Once even going gambling and out for the day with my Mother-in-law. They made fast friends. Two irascible ladies who were determined and damned fun to be with. When Ben came home she knitted him an outfit and a blanket. Recently she made him a quilt that he uses most every night. Despite the recent return of her cancer she was always happy and smiling. I shall remember her zipping around town in her little black car. Always off doing something. She was part of many charitable organizations, including working at a soup kitchen and making baby blankets for unwed teenage mothers. We had many long conversations on her back porch while we smoked. That is until she gave it up when her first grandchild was born. How thrilled she was to have grandchildren. She adored them. I will miss her when we are out on our little circle playing. Things just won't be the same without her.

Yep, it is all about the grandchildren!

I am content just visiting with them each week. Don't need much else in life.

Sorry to hear about the passing of your dear friend. It is comforting that you have such fond memories of her.

I hope to see you this week as I pass through WI on my way to MN. I will call you for a "play date"
Love ya,
