Took Ben adn Sarina for their check ups today. Sarina has gained two more pounds and now is in the 5th percentile for height and weight! She is doing great. She is eating less now and her achee problem has been resolved.
Drum roll please: Ben is now 40 lbs and 43 inches. Solidly in the 50th percentile! He did well with the exam until they told us there would 4 shots! youch! He tried to exit the building at that point. Unfortunately we had to hold him down. He was then very angry and cursed them the whole way out of the office and down the hall where he battered a potted plant. Not the best reaction but hey, 4 shots! He was very upset. On the way to the Dr. he was comforting Sarina about her getting shots. Not that she knew what he was talking about. Then he found out he would get more than one shot and that loosed a tirade about the stupidity of shots. All his loving big brother advice went right out the window at that point.
Afterwards we went to the zoo where we met a neighbor. She asked him if he had been brave and he very clearly stated no, not at all. We did have a fun time riding the carousel and taking the train before lunch and then play at the new kid's zoo. He seems over it. I thought there would be more complaining about how his arms hurt. Anyway the shots are over until he is 11 so that is good news.

At least the doctor did not have to call in help, like he did with one of mine. who now has vacination marks down their arm.
Your brother is the only one I know who made the Nurse cry when he thanked her for his "shots so I won't get sick" of cource this was just after he had be declaried well enought to be given some freedom.
Clay wasn't brave either. He wouldn't even pee in the darn CUP! I'm just glad it's over...now I have to try and get him on the bus...
Hey! What are you feeding him?! He's nearly 3 lbs heavier than Ethan and 1.5" taller. Tell me...is it the cheese? Hmmmm....
We just grow them big here in the mid-west I guess. He is corn fed. Actually corn is the only vegetable he will eat. Although he insists that watermelon is a vegetable.
Luckily Ben will not have to ride the bus. I'm looking forward to walking him everyday. I have a friend who lost all her weight just walking her son to and from school everyday. Now if I just don't stop at the coffee shop everytime.
Pee in a cup?
Wow drug tests for K-garten. Must be a tough school.
And for the record:
Watermelon is a Fruit
Watermelon is the fruit of a plant originally from a vine of southern Africa. The watermelon fruit, loosely considered a type of melon (although not in the genus Cucumis), has a smooth exterior rind and a juicy, sweet, usually red interior flesh. The species descriptor Citrullus vulgaris is sometimes, synonymously, used to refer to this plant (vulgaris meaning "common" — Shosteck, 1974).
Like the pepper, tomato, and pumpkin, watermelon is botanically a fruit. According to Webster’s dictionary and Wikipedia, a fruit is the ripened ovary of a seed plant and its contents, and a watermelon is a large oblong roundish fruit (2004, 2006). Consumers use watermelon primarily as a fruit because of its sweet flavor and refreshing qualities.
Watermelon is Also a Vegetable
According to Webster’s dictionary a vegetable is anything made or obtained from plants (2004). Watermelon is a member of the cucurbitaceae plant family of gourds (classified as Citrullus Lantus), related to the cucumber, squash, and pumpkin (Maynard, 2001). It is planted from seeds or seedlings, harvested, and then cleared from the field like other vegetables. Since watermelon is grown as a vegetable crop using vegetable production systems, watermelon is considered a vegetable (Wolford, 2004).
Does that mean you get credit for eating 1 vegitable and 1 fruit?
