Just got back from having lunch out with Sarina. What a completely different child she is from Ben. She greets everyone with a "Hilo" and loves to talk to people It's a bit of a refreshing change. Ben has remarked that Sarina has lots of friends because she talks to everyone. He's very surprised by her. She also likes to say "tank too" and will say it repeatedly until she gets a "you're welcome" back. Then when we are leaving she has to say good bye to everyone and even yelled at one poor man at the cofee shop until he finally noticed her and said good bye. Too funny.
She loves to go pick up Ben at school because we play on the playground for a while before heading home. Sometimes an hour later. How she loves the playground. She must try every swing and go down every slide as well has hang from everything you can possibly hang from. She loves to hang and swing. The bigger kids are very good with her, although some are worried she's too young to play and so they watch over her.
The other day we went raspberry picking with friends. We only managed to pick a few so they gave them to us plus some cherry tomatoes. Sarina ate all the raspberries and then cried for the tomatoes until she ate most of them too. Then she fell asleep in the car with tomato raspberry seeds all over her face. The other day I gave her a nice banana chocolate chip muffin I made from a good friend's very tasty low fat recipe. Ben loves them and will eat them until they are gone but Sarina fussed and pointed at the counter until I figured out that she wanted tomatoes instead. She loves her some tomatoes.
Later: Like Five Minutes Later
I just found a few of Sarina's blocks by the bathroom and walked into the family room expecting to find the pile of blocks she was playing with this morning as I cleaned the basement. I looked at the floor and it was completely clear. I was all ok, where are the heck are the blocks and there they were all back in their container which was pushed up into a corner nicely put away. She's and Angel!

The friend thing happens with a couple of other girls I know. Kyra has always seemed to make friends easily, although she has been a bit clingy in front of strange adults until fairly recently. My friend's kid Kylie is super friendly, too, and the direct opposite of her brother, who really could care less whether he was playing alone or with someone else as long as he's doing what he wants to do. It's just so fun (most of the time, anyway) to watch their personalities come out.
Kyra would probably choose sweets over broccoli, but it is what she requests for her birthday dinner (cream of broccoli soup made by me). I think I would have a stroke if Ethan requested a vegetable. That or wonder if he had been replaced by an alien...
Oh by the way: I'm sure you know that kids can develop food allergies by eating too much of something, or at least cankor sores from acidic foods. FYI (although it is danged cute that she likes them!)
A child who cleans up after herself? You hit the jackpot!
