Sometimes the Child is Not Crying Wolf

Last night I was getting ready for work and Mark was home so we were enjoying a few minutes of quiet conversation (oh those precious stolen moments) while the children were downstairs. Ben came running in and declared that Sarina had a bag of candy and was eating it. Well, I couldn't think of where she might get a bag of candy and not to be too harsh but Ben tends to exaggerate when it comes to his sister's bad behavior so we said "ok" and we went on talking. A small piece of candy is a small price to pay for some conversation time anyway. Then Mark went on downstairs and the next thing I know Sarina is screaming and charging into my room as if she were on fire! What horrible tragedy could have befallen the child I wondered. I didn't hear a loud bang as in her falling down the stairs which she still does regularly so I went to ask what happened as she could not even catch her breath. When I get downstairs Mark was holding a fistful of suckers with their wrappers off and all seemingly licked to some extent. It seems that someone got down the diaper bag that has the emergency sucker stash. Now who is at fault is in dispute as Ben claims that Sarina jumped up and go the bag and then placed it back perfectly where it was before. Pretty amazing for a two-year-old. Poor girl took forever to recover from Daddy taking her suckers away. How she loves suckers.
