Dinoriffic
The other night was Ben's open house at his school. They serve free hotdogs and the kids can show off their classrooms and show their parents around the school. Ben was very excited. There was a book fair and a raffle. Each teacher selects a theme for a basket of goodies and asks parents of their students to donate items. Well Ben's class basket theme was dinosaurs. He was so excited and positively convinced that he was going to win. So convinced that he invited his friends to a dinosaur party at our house on Saturday. We tried to tell him that lots of people also wanted to win the basket and they would be trying too. He was convinced he was going to win. Well we put all our raffle tickets in for the dinosaur basket but as Sarina has learned how to climb out of her bed, oh what a fun trick, she did not get a nap and so we had to leave before the drawing. The next day when we didn't get a phone call I assumed that we had not won despite Mark standing there stuffing the box with $40 worth of raffle tickets. Oh well a life lesson learned. Can't win them all. But Ben came out of school just beaming and announced that we had indeed won the huge dinosaur basket. There were more dinosaur things in that basket, including pajammas, then any boy could imagine or need. What excitement. Unfortunately on Saturday when his friends showed up for the dinosaur party I was just too sick to let them in the house. Oh how disappointed they were. Seems the next best thing to winning a dinosaur basket is your friend winning one. Luckily at least Luke was able to come by on Sunday and again Monday to enjoy the treasures.
