Our New Love

Apparently Ben's foray into hot lunch was a success. The next day he wondered what was on the hot lunch menu and I checked and it was meat loaf with mashed potatoes, two things he never eats so I made him his lunch and put it into his backpack. When we were leaving I noticed his backpack was a bit light and I checked to find that his lunch bag was missing. Oh where could it be. Ben was deeply concerned that it was missing but could not think where it had gone. He then said that he would just have to have hot lunch. I pointed out that he does not like meat loaf and he said that I had been telling him he had to try new things. True I have been. So he had the hot lunch and proclaimed it to be great, even the potatoes, although I think he liked the ice cream sandwich the best. Today he is excited to be trying ribs. I really wonder what they have done with my little boy there at that school. He's eating hot lunch with veggies and he goes to school without complaint everyday! They are body snatchers I think.

We had his first parent conference last night. it went as I expected. He's doing really well but needs to improve his writing. I was amazed at how well he got along with all the kids though. No problems except he's a bit of a tattle tale but then I knew that. It is a new development. Before he would not talk to adults even when he knew them well now he delights in going up to them to tell them all the wrong things their children are doing. Yet another endearing phase to get through.

All of you guys changed the day you started school. I think it is preprogramed at conception.
Sammi and Mikey had foods they would only eat at Green Tree the preschool.
scare isn't it.

I think it's the fact that school lunches are amazingly high in calories and low in nutritional value. They load the meat with fat and sugars, and boil all the nutrients out of the veggies. That really, really seems to appeal to children from what I've seen.
