Hoofing It

So this week we are without my car. I had an unfortunately accident with the car in the garage. Ok, I ran over Ben's bike tire and thought I heard the dog yelp so jumped out of the car thinking I had put it in park but I guess I did not as it rolled backward and the door got caught on the garage wall. The door was a little crinkled and so they are putting on a new door this week. So we are on foot or bike all week. This morning we walked up to the new play group at the school. All summer they are offering a play group at the school where Ben will go to Kindergarten. A great thing for us as Ben will get used to the school and one of the teachers there. I hope he has her in the Fall then. that would really make the transition easy. It was really nice. They had lots of play areas and things to do. We even played on the playground. My hope is that Ben will be totally acclimated tot he school by Fall. Ha.

After the school we went to lunch and then grocery shopping before heading home. Just checked my pedometer and I'm already at 8900 steps! Should be a banner day as I usually get most of my walking in the afternoon. I'm sure we will be walking to the park or somewhere. Unless the rain comes as it is threatening to do.

Tomorrow my car should be done and we will walk to pick it up I think. That is a good long walk. I walked home when I dropped it off and it was all up hill! Good for the butt.

Well I quess that is better than putting it sideways in the doorway like your mother, or knocking the door clear around on to the fender like your father.
Love ya

Ah so its a family tradition. That explains a lot.

This is the second time we've had an incident. I still need to repair the massive drywall hole from the first one. I left iot as a reminder, but to no avail. Ben may like fixing it, power tools then you get to play with dry-wall compound.

Oh that's nothing.....

In Valparaiso we had a driveway with RR ties on either side of the one lane drive way. One day Kathie Sue got her little car stuck exactly sideways 1/2 way down that steep hill. The guys had to lift the back end to get it straight.

A short time later, on that same drive way, Larry pulled up to the garage and parked his Taurus but did not put the break on. That thing rolled backwards into the ravene on the other side of the garages. A tow truck had to pull it out.

Later, on that same drive way, we headed down the drive in the big extended van on an icy day with the car full of the entire family. We started sliding down that hill at break neck speed, slid across the entire cal du sac and into our neighbors yard. Very exciting.

A short time later, Kimmy headed down that driveway, ran over our mailbox and got stuck on the cement bottom to that mailbox. We had to call the tow truck again.

In Minnesota, Jon Matthew drove up a long drive way with a curve on the end toward his friend's house. He hit the gas instead of the break and ran right through the side of the house and into their kitchen!

Again, in MN, on a snowy night, JP had our jeep out for a little spin, and went around an exit ramp off of 394, fell off the road and laid that Jeep right down on its side and dragged it for a little ways. We were on vacation at the time and he had to tell us that he trashed the car while we were gone.

Here in Chicago, I hit the side of the house and took my side mirror off the car. Larry backed out of the drive and right into a parked car across the street. People don't park in that spot any more.

Parking and backing out of the drive way is an issue for this family.

I now don't feel so bad about. I seem to recall a person that said they had 13 accidents. Hmmmm...who could that be?

I've got ya all...I backed into my husbands new truck with my new pilot because I was talking with my ex-husband who was sitting in the back seat of my car and wasn't payimg attention to where my car was going.

Why wasn't your ex-husband watching where you were going. Damn him. It is clearly his fault!
