If At First You Don't Succeed....

Tried to make it up the hill today with both kids in the trailer and I failed but I did get half way up so not too bad. I've made it up on my own and with just Sarina but the combined weight of over 60 pounds really dragged me down. This was my first ride with both in the trailer. I rode with Ben on his own bike before but really 5-year-olds are not really good biking partners. They tend to turn in the direction they are looking and stop suddenly because there is a dog two yards over. They also see no reason to not ride as close to you as they can get.

We rode up to the coffee shop and Ben bought a lovely beaded basket to keep his new car in. It was handcrafted in Indonesia and has a beaded heart on it. On the way home we stopped at the park. That was a huge mistake because in case you have never tried just let me tell you that it is nearly impossible to get a screaming, squirming two year old into a bike carrier with her helmet on when she does not want to go. The physics were such that only by tricking her with "Here have my water bottle" was I able to stuff her in....ummmm, excuse me.... Sarina just ahcheed! More later.

Ok, I"m back. So the girl still howled but stopped squirming long enough to get strapped in with her helmet on. The we took off down the big hill with her screaming until she found the ride so thrilling that she stopped. Down the hill we swooped and into the circle where we did 6 victory laps while whooping it up. I swear half my neighbors came to their windows to see what all the yelling was about. I was just thrilled to have made it home without collapsing from exhaustion. Actually, I felt pretty good and I think next time I'll make it up the hill!
