A Journey of Ten Thousand Steps
I bought a pedometer and wore it for the first time yesterday. I put in over 12,000 steps! Woohoo. I did march in place at the hairdresser to get the count up but that is fair. Plus it doesn't include all the steps I took looking for the damn thing when I lost it at the store and had to retrace my steps for the last 10 minutes. so I"m pretty happy. I thought 10,000 steps a day might be odious but it wasn't' bad. I did have to walk up and down my street a few times and walk Sarina in the stroller but what the heck I"m standing outside with the kidlets anyway so might has well be productive. And I think the days we walk into town will be banner days on the old pedometer. I"ll keep you updated on my progress but so far I"m thinking that having a tangible measurement and a daily goal is a pretty good thing. I"m going to reset it tonight when I go to work and measure how many steps I take just at work in 4 hours. It will be interesting to see.

This sounds like a journey you are determind to complete, and you usually accomplish what you set out to do with determination.
LOVE YA ALL
The average person takes about 2000 steps per mile. Bet you didn't know you were walking 6 miles/day? Way to go!
I like the way you are trying to incorperate exercise into your everyday life. Keep trying with Ben on his own bike...Mikey took a few times but when he figured it out it was great fun. He would go with me sometimes when I ran and he got up to 3 miles when he was 5!
Thanks for the encouragement. Alas, if only I were average I would have walked 6 miles but unfortunately I calibrated my pedometer to my step size and so I"m at 4800 steps so far today but only 1.82 miles. Damn, why didn't I just use the default value I would feel so much more exercised. Much to my disappointment it does not count how many of those steps were with me carrying a 22 pound weight also known as Sarina.
