My bare root bushes are still waiting to be planted and the bed is still not dug up so I got Ben off to school and took Sarina in the back for some digging and more tree cutting. Started off trying to dig up the clump of zebra grass that is so invasive and ugly. One shovel full and I knew I was in trouble. The tree roots are everywhere in the bed. Shovel in, hit root about two inches down. Man, I hate that. I tried to tough it out but as I was stoically digging away I noticed that the robot lawn mower was mowing right where the cone flowers I meant to dig were. Yikes! I hustled over to the other side of the yard to dig those up while Sarina screamed because I was on the other side of the fence. I found as many as I could and threw them over the fence to be replanted. Then, exhausted I decided that there was no way I was going to get the bed dug up in any time to get the bushes planted before they died. Off to search the yard for places I could stick them until I do. So that involved digging up some hostas and transplanting those to make space for the lilacs and one hydrangea tree. The bushes are soaking now to be ready to pop in the ground tomorrow. I hope they are not dead.
That robot is more trouble. Yesterday it ran over one of my newly planted current bushes! Of course it ran down the one in the front of the bed that was the tallest and fullest. Now it is a tiny stump. At least it does have some leaves left on the bottom and may come back but will be severely stunted for years no doubt. Lovely.
I planted some blueberries at the same time as the currents and they are not looking good. Only one has managed to bloom a single leave. Great. Now I did everything you are supposed to do. Mark dug up the bed last year and prepped it. We put down mulch for the whole winter. It was a perfect bed. They have no reason to complain.
I do not even want to talk up how the hill looks.

robots are evil! eeeeeeviiiiilllll!!!!
Bad robot!! Wonder if there's a conspiracy afoot considering it ate up a fruit bearing plant. I'm sure if you had potatoes or chocolate plants it would have left those alone. I'm sure there is some way to blame this on Carl...
Are you sure that the robot mower was not programed by your father?
sounds very familar to me.
I usually tried to weed during the rain or after soaking the ground where I wanted to weed. always seemed easier on my back and I wore old cloths and sat on the ground.
But I have always had a bad back and been a little off center (advanced ADD)
I ALWAYS WEED right after a rain (or while it's raining) soooo much easier. Ya get a little muddy but what the heck.
weight loss comment: I think you would be far better off at your age to work on being healthy don't fret over pounds lost. By the way 5 pounds in one week is NOT a healthy weight loss. Probably more water than anything. I urge to go have your health and body composition analysed by a professional. You might be suprised what you find out. I applaude you for working on bad habits like eating the left overs...Cheryl is working on not eating anything that's white! Remember drink LOTS of water (one of my faults) eat nothing that has more than 4g of sugar per serving, get your protien. Oxygen burns fat..when you exercise BREATH DEEPLY, don't let yourself get too hungry.
LOVE YOU
