Snowball fights and Picnics

Yesterday was a great day. We got 4 inches of snow very quickly in the morning so when I picked Ben up from school we had lots of new fallen snow to play in. He started a snowball fight with me and while allt he parents quicly ushered their children into warm cars and swooped them off to nutritious lunches Ben I romped through the parking lot throwing snow balls and having a great time. At one point Ben took refuge in the car and I pelted the car with snowballs to his great delight. The fight didn't end until the afternoon kids showed up for preschool. Just in time for their parents to give me looks as if I was a mad woman. As the kids dutifully filed into school with no thrown snowballs I saw them peeking back at us with gleeful looks tinged by a small amount of envy.

After the fight Ben suggested we go home and have a picnic in our kitchen. This over Mommy's suggestion of walking to the coffee shop for lunch. So we went home and Ben set out a blanket on the kitchen floor and we made hot dogs and had applesauce because "you can't have a picnic without applesauce. " Ben got some pillows for us and we lay on the floor and watched the snow fall gently down while we ate our picnic lunch. Later we shoveled the driveway and went sledding. A very nice day.
