One Night in Bangkok

WE made it to bangkok. We have a 23 hour layover here. What Fun! Luckily they have day rooms in the airport but they are very pricey as is all the food. The airport is like a great big duty free mall but the prices are so high you might as well buy and pay the duty outside the airport. Anyway, glad to have drinks with ice in them.

Fruit is the big thing here at the airport, second only to praises of the king and images of elephants. Everything here is driven by "King Power" Anyway the fruit is good. Had the best mango I"ve ever tasted for breakfast. BTW, when in Bangkok do order the sticky rice and mango for breakfast. Sarina loved it. I bought some great dried fruit to take home. Even Ben loves it. We had two fruit smoothies so far today. I"m also planning on getting some real ice cream. The stuff they have in Nepal just didn't cut it. I wonder if they made it from yak's milk like the butter and cheese. Yak butter and cheese is pretty tasty but not the ice cream.

It was so refreshing to be sleeping in yet another hotel room with my family. I love them all so much I just need them so close to me. (Dear God save me.) The rooms are knid of cool as they have a wall of window, covered by a curtain of course, that you can open and look out on the concourse and see the planes taking off. they also have a beautiful garden here but we can't go outside unless we take SArina through immigration and that is a pain I understand.

You'll have to excuse my typos I'm typing on a keyboard that has Thai characters plus English so a bit confusing. Not that I"m the best typist at any time.

So we leave Bangkok at 6:30 tonight and land in LA at 7pm. Only a half hour flight right. Hahaaha. WE didn't do so well on the short flight from Kathmandu so we have to pray that things go better on this flight. I'm just hoping she does her business before the flight. Yesterday was a nightmare in the bathroom with her. Lovely.

Right now Ben is playing his leapster Sarina is refusing to take a nap. At least one is quiet. Usuallly they feed off each other. SArina is starting to imitate Ben more and more. The other morning she showed me her fists. My sweet angel girl.

So we spend one night in LA and then we fly into Chicago at 5pm. WE'll get a taxi to pick up our car. Then the long drive home.

I have to say I"m preparing myself for culture shock. I definately had it when we came back last time and we were only gone 2 weeks then. Will remember how to drive my little car? Who will make sure I have my decaf coffee every morning. Where will be the bright cheery ladies that say Namaste and then clean my room so nice.

WE met alot of people in Nepal. People from all over the world. It was fun and I've made some lasting friendships. I"m really looking forward to getting hom eand seeing all of you and my little dog. I really miss that dog!

Dad, wants to know if you change a dyper on the airplane by holding them upside down?
He said he would just have a big plastic bag and wrap the babys dirty parts in that to keep the smeel in until he got to the airport.
However we know he would just yell" help".LOL

Yay!!!!! You did it!!! Now all you have to do is adjust to life with 2 kids. It will be interesting to see how Sarina reacts to her "sister" Molly, and vice verse. And you still have an adjustment to US time and living in your actual town, but that should be a breeze compared to the hurdles you've just jumped. Man, what a nightmare that was! At least it had a happy ending.

Now maybe we can plan a visit... If you guys are out if vacation, we'd be happy to visit you this year, if that helps...

I am so glad that you will be landing on US soil soon.

Bry will be home to greet you. You will find the cushion for the car seat in the kitchen by the closet.

Bry's cell phone is: 262-949-6086.

Hope your culture shock is good rather than difficult. Every time I leave the US for a few weeks, I am happy to get back. Hope you have the same experience.

Love to all, we will visit soon.
