We've decide to take a Vacation

With all that has been going on we've not had time to enjoy this amazing country so we've decided to go on a family vacation. We so want Ben to love Nepal and that has not happened because we've been trapped in Paradise really. So today we went to the monkey temple. What an awesome place. Although I was personally disappointed that the misbehaving monkeys did not misbehave at all. No fights. No stolen food. No flung poo. Despite that the temple offers some amazing views of the city from the hilltop it occupies. Plus there were lots of monkeys even if they were polite and despite our drivers warning they did not try to steal from us.

The thing about Nepal is that amidst this beauty there is much tragedy and Ben got to see some of that today when children came up to us asking for food. He was very upset that I gave away his treats but then remembered that Christ asked us to feed the poor. It was a nice moment. We also got to light candles at the Buddhist temple and Ben prayed that we would get our paperwork signed and that Keach and Molly were all right without us. He misses them and all his friends. Each night he says his heart hurts for them. He also told me that his friend Sammy called on his cell phone and he is going to solve our problems. Way to go Sam. Thanks!

SArina is coming out of her shell so much she is acting like a two year old. She used to help us dress her and now she actively fights us and today for the first time ever, she refused a spoonful of food! I thought I would never see it. We fight Ben to eat and her to stop eating usually! Somtimes she tries to steal his food off his plate.

We've also found that she has extremely sensitive and dry skin. It has been a big learning curve to get a child at two with no information on her at all.

Living in a hotel room has in some ways brought us closer together as a family. How could it not. I'm thinking of writing a book "How to live in a hotel with your family in a third world country."

The best news of the day is that we've found chicken nuggets as good as McDonald's. Hurrah! Ben also likes a drink here called Horlicks. The hardest thing about Nepal is getting used to the fact that there is no refridgerated section in the grocery store and that milk products are on the shelve.

Thanks for all your kind comments and concern. WE know that this will end for us. The hard part is just not knowing when. In the meantime, we will try to make the stay a little more happy for Ben.

Happy for you all to enjoy. A book-What a wonderful idea! Let's add Horlicks to the list of things to have if the elevator stops. What's your flavor, Ben? Chicken nuggets! You have very good eyes and/or nose?!!! It's amazing the power a Mommy has...Keep up the great work!

So glad you were able to have some fun for a change. Evesryone I talk to wants to come and protest in your behalf.
I so hope that Mark and Ben do not leave without you. Is there someway we could help so they could stay with you?

Right now we are just waiting to confirm that the committee will meet and sign files again in the next week or so. One would think that was easy but no.

I wish there was something people could do from there but right now there is not.
