We Make Contact(s)

We have not been sittting idle here. We've contacted 4 other American families who are in the same boat as us and we all went to the Minsitry today. We are wheeling and dealing here and at least we are being proactive and not just sitting anymore.

Amazingly, one of the waiting parents is an American Nepali woman who was adopted in 1976. She has been great to know and it is interesting to see the country from her perspective. Poor woman, everyone thinks she is nepali and she can only speak a small bit. However, I went to the Ministry with her and the Ministry staff were so excited to meet her. That was a plus. And we are making good friends. For now she is staying at our hotel but may go stay with family friends. At least I will not be all alone if Mark and Ben go home. We still have some hope that they will stay. (pray, pray, pray)

WE think that if our file is signed soon but the last secretary is not due back until at least Saturday then we will do some touring of the country. I"m looking forward to that. It should be great fun for Ben too to get out and see something besides a very noisy city. Ben is doing ok. WE realize that we have to dedicate part of the day to our problem and part of the day to entertaining him. It is hard to stay in a hotel room when you are four. So many rules. You cannot kick a ball in the room. You have to be quiet all the time. We still are working hard on not karate chopping people. Plus, Daddy has a hard time fixing your toys because he only has band-aids and his own ingenuity. That amazingly has fixed a good many things. Oh, that and a bouncy super ball, which when cut in half made a nice replacement tire for a remote control car. That is the Nepali in him. This country makes you more creative to problem solving. There is just not that many resources. It is fantastic to see the solutions people work out. In Nepal you don't just call a parts dealer, you make your own. Fun, however, next time I'm bringing super glue and duct tape. Why oh why didn't I pack duct tape. And more zip lock bags! If we are really stuck here please, send zip lock bags, super glue and duct tape. We'll be ready for all situation then. I think we could even build a shelter with that, well plus the cardboard shipping box. I'll let you know when to send them! Until then don't worry about us.

Wonderful to hear. Knowing that you and Mark are VERY creative and not idle people, this chapter in your lives has many opportunities. As challenging as it sounds--the result holds great growth. Continuing to pray for your peace, strength and thanking GOD for HIS people in your lives, Glo

I am so glad to hear, ben and mark maybe able to stay for a while.
glad you meet some people you can find comfort wilth and help. some how I always feel better if I can help someone else.
Maybe the napli women is a GOD sent (someone who can help save the day), if they were glad to see her and can begin to relate to the situation.
I everyone thinks americans are rich maysbe we should send the duct tape and you could start your box shelter and scare them?
love you

McGiever got nothing on me.

True to my nature I find ways to fix Bens toys. It's cheeper then buying new and I dread going into the department store trying to explain super glue.

I went in for a nose sucker. All the parents know. That thing that get6s snot out of a babies nose and they pointed me at the breast pump. The funnyt thing is I considered modifying it lol. Wut thought I may suck Sarenas brains out. She is one smart cutie.

I am very glad to hear that you have found others and are working together. It is such comfort to know that you have friends during this time.

I also hope that Ben grows to love the country and remembers this experience fondly in the future.

Well, I guess it is safe to say that all of you have truly bonded as a family of four. Praise GOD!

Our prayers for you continue.
Love Cheryl

If you give me the names of the cities the other Americans are from, I will attempt to contact the press in those cities to see if they will run a story.
